Politecnico di Torino

(POLITO)

Organisation Type: Higher Education
Politecnico di Torino is the oldest technical university in Italy with almost 30,000 students attending 96 courses (22 Bachelor’s, 31 Master of Science, 23 PhD and 20 specialization courses) covering all the fields of engineer-ing: industrial (mechanical, energy aerospace, chemical…), civil and environmental engineering, electronics, informatics and ICT, logistics and management, applied mathematics and physics but also architecture. NANO-REM will involve mainly staff from DIATI, the Department of Environmental, Land and Transport Engineering of the Politecnico di Torino and operates in the disciplines of hydrogeology, groundwater engineering, remediation of contaminated sites, geophysics, air pollution control and forecasting, sanitary engineering, galleries and dredging, petroleum engineering, topography, GIS and remote sensing, mineral science, environmental economics, transport. The staff of the department is composed of 63 faculties, 29 technicians, 45 PhD students, 57 post docs and assistant researchers. The Environmental Nanotechnology lab, headed by Prof. Sethi is equipped with instrumentation to perform detailed analysis of colloidal systems and column set-ups to perform detailed studies of nanoparticle transport in porous media. The Groundwater Engineering Group is skilled in mathematical and numerical modelling of contaminant and colloidal transport in porous media.
